It feels like ages since I was in studio, this year has been a blur so far. I've managed a couple of sessions but juggling shoots with family life and the new job isn't as easy as I thought it was going to be!!
I did managed to work with a couple of fantastic ladies though; first of all Sinead Boyce, who is a wonderful model and a brilliant laugh to work with and a relative newcomer to the world of studio photography, Holly Phillips, who just seems so comfortable in front of the camera its crazy!! I also got eh chance to meet a great new MUA - Megan Crowton, who I'm excited to work with again very soon - she's brilliant!
Both sessions have been a bit of a test/colaboration between myself and Matt Leach; we've taled about trying different lighting and getting a number of looks/setups in the locker to offer a more versatile shoot - but more often than not the ones we loved most were the ones we've been shooting the past few years!
I'm hoping that I can start to get into studio and inspired again as I feel like photography is escaping me a little at the moment; I had desires of starting a 365 project this year, but both months so far have seen me put it off; also I've had plans to shoot with a couple of models that haven't really worked out for a number of reasons and its kinda knocked the confidence. No matter though, I will plough through and find a way to get back on the horse!
On a personal level, family life is amazing and I'm so lucky - one of the reasons I've not have the time to shoot in studio is because I'm trying to not only capture the moments of Thomas growing up, but I'm desperate to actually enjoy the time with him too; I honestly thought I'd be snapping away eveny five minutes at home, but its been great to just put the camera down and spend the quality time that I know I will never get back with my family.
So whilst studio work is a little slow, at least its not through laziness!! I've got a few shoots booked in in March and hopefully I will have something goign on with work too...
