Back in November I got together with someone I was very excited to shoot with; Lauren has shot with some great photographers including my friends Matt Leach and Kris Askey - who both raved about working with her.
I'd taken a break from phtography for a couple of months, (Thomas turned a whole year old and Katie and I got married), life was just too manic to be working and trying to organise shoots, but the time felt right to get back into the swing of things and so Lauren was up for the challenge. As well as also being a great photographer, Lauren is also a multi-talented artist; her drawings are sensational and so is her painting - she really is a very creative individual.
On the night we took a couple of looks and tried a few different lighting setups - some worked and others not so well; but that's the beauty about trying things out. When you get it right it can come off really nicely. One edit I was pretty pleased with was trying to recreate the wet plate look and feel - this also gave it kinda a ghostly and haunting feel which was prefect as we'd shot just before Halloween!
All in all it was a blast and not only did I get to work with her, but her boyfriend came along, and as well as helping finish the pizza, gave me a bit of an education on motorbikes - not my usual conversation, but it was amazing to learn how he'd built his own bike and was planning on doing more in the future.
