Ever since we'd found out that we were expecting Thomas, I'd had the idea of proposing and then marrying Katie. On December 6th 2014 we had found out Katie was pregnant and so exactly a year later I proposed. I had help, Thomas was in his cot with the ring and wearing a baby grow with the proposal on it, so really couldn't fail but get a yes.
We'd put ideas of a wedding aside for a while as we didn't think we could afford it or that we could find time to organise one either; then in May we decided that we'd go and look at a place; just to see if it might be something we'd consider. 2 hours later, full of afternoon tea, we'd made up our mind and we booked everything for 2nd September. The following few months were pretty manic, but we managed to keep the stress to a minimum and really organise something that we wanted.
We had a simple registry office service, a small party of some of our closest friends and family, then afternoon tea at Netherstowe House in Lichfield. We had a wonderful afternoon which came to an end with grandparents taking children home and the adults continuing on to Le Reve cocktail bar. Everything was perfect for what we wanted and we loved every minute of it, as I know pretty well from photographing weddings, they do go so fast. The following morning we woke up and were still pinching ourselves that it actually happened!
From the minute we'd booked the date I had in mind the photographer I wanted to be with us on the day, and luckily he was free and interested. Kris Askey is a superb photographer; he's such a nice guy on top of that - he added so much to our day, from his relaxed attitude to his confident shooting style. He was happy to take on board our suggestions in the run-up to the day and captured the occassion perfectly. His skill and anticipation of the perfect moments had us so delighted when we got the photos back to look through, I honestly couldn't recommend someone more highly - I've know Kris a few years now, thanks initially to a mutual friend, Jamie Chapman, and we've always got on well. Thanks to him we've now got the perfect record of our wedding day that I couldn't imagine anyone else could have got.
So here's some of the highlights - I won't bore you with everything; as nice as it is to see people's wedding photo's you really don't want my face filling your screen!!
